Long time i haven't seen such a good and intelligent game!. Was an interesting game. -But not worth more than 2 Buggs!. Okay...a thumbs up, but I have to warn that this is just for the price point, and that this is a game for a niche audience. Namely: very adept puzzle gamers.Yes, this is a sideway scroller and there are some jumping puzzles. It is, however, far from the main selling point of the game, and...rather conceal what the game is really about. And that is: puzzles revolving around light spheres. This is best explained by picturing three different layers on top of the world. These are invisible unless being shined upon by light circles, but can affect objects within that layer. These lights can be found in lanterns, and by defeating the game bosses. And believe me: it sounds more complex than it really is.You might have noticed that this game has gotten some rewards. If you ask me, they are rewarded. But it is with a large caveat: it is NOT for the visuals, sounds, story progression and least of all the voice acting. All of these are serviceable yet basic (okay, except the voice acting: that is - I can't deny it - plain bad :( ), but serve to get the point across. Controls are pretty meh at best as well. It's not that I expect Mario-like tight controls, but even for a puzzle platformer, this could've been better tuned, I think....but I was talking about the rewards. These are given for the puzzle design. And that, dear readers, is where this game really shines (or "scheins", if you pardon my pun). While some parts of levels serve as bridging points or to give the player some breathing room or variation, it's the puzzles that elevate this game (far) above the sum of its parts. It has a lot of these "huh...this is impossible!"-moments where you need to think different kinds of outside the box-thinking to get to the next save point. Whether it is about wondering where you place the lights, where you'll carry these lights to and when to (not) activate your own shine ability can get pretty crazy. The amazing part of this is the amount of depth that is found in a perspective (2D platforming...and one where you don't jump 5x your own height) that is in itself rather limited. That can get pretty frustrating, as you think you know that things are impossible, but when you start trying out things, it in the end clicks when you discover that there was something that you haven't thought of before.So...great puzzles, pretty basic (or even below average) features for everything else. While it wouldn't really be fair to judge a game on anything but its main selling point, I understand the downvotes it got. I can't stress it enough: YOU NEED TO REALLY LIKE PUZZLES FIRST!! If not, then this isn't the game for you. If it is...well...this thumbs up is for you.. UPDATE: Sorry, people, but I have to change my review. After spending several hours with it, I've decided the level design is too cumbersome and technical to merit a thumbs-up. I want to recommend this game; the graphics are amazing and the triplicate-art shows a level of devotion and attention to detail that most games don't have. Unfortunately, the puzzles eventually get very minute and annoying -- so much so that the game is no longer fun. I simply quit caring and stopped playing. Maybe other people enjoy this sort of pixel-different placement challenge, but I don't want that sort of stress and frustration in my games.I struggled through many levels that I didn't enjoy, because I assumed the fun factor would return, but it never did. It's just not worth my time anymore.----------------------------------------------------------------------Original Review: A remarkable little platformer.Combine the focused visual concentration of Limbo -- the refined art style, the elegant control mechanisms unencumbered by needless complications -- with the unforgiving, punishing precision of Super Meat Boy -- the tiny ledges, the insane death spikes waiting below -- and you've got a superb title. You could wait until it gets cheaper, but I can tell this will be worth every penny of the $9.00 I paid.. This game is hard, but for all the wrong reasons. Lots of blind jumps, you can't see the obstacles from the "other world" until it's right in your face. Blind jumps are a thing that stopped existing after the 16 bit era because game designers realized it was bad level design, but this game has tons of blind jumps. The fact that I can only see things from the other world in this small orb around the player makes the rest of the screen completely useless. There are vines with thorns that instantly kill me, and can only be seen with that orb on. So I have to turn off the orb to get past them, but there's no indication as to when I'm past them since I can't see them. Overall it just has lots of really bad level design from the get go and it was too frustrating for me to continue. I'm fine with difficult games when they make me feel like it's my fault when I lose. This game, the majority of the time I lose, I feel like it's due to lack of information that the game is supposed to give to me.. I hate this game. There's no real challenge to it. It's not a puzzle game.. I haven't played through the entire game, but it's a gem. Requires a mix of quick fingers and really thinking. I very much love that you, once you've aquired more, or bigger, colored lights can go back to levels you've already completed and get very different game play from the first time.. The concept and the gameplay mechanics are solid, but for a protagonist who is searching for his lost child, he couldn't seem more disinterested. It didn't take too long for me to become disinterested. I really liked the music and the art direction. It's not a bad game, I just can't recommend it.Did I mention that I liked the music? My Justification:#1 https://youtu.be/S_iPhYLfm-U #2 https://youtu.be/bLQTe5oqxyY. A change-your-environment platformer that falls short. The music, graphics and voice acting are charming and at times suspenseful. As the game progresses the plot seems to stall while focus on the game mechanics grows. Something about the cohesion of the game seems off and overall it is difficult to stay interested. The input on a controller is soft. This is a problem half way through the game when a level suddenly requires more precision platforming that is essentially on rails. If you have a D-Pad like that of the X-Box controller, any input other than exactly right or left seems to cancel your jump trajectory. That is infuriating and forces the use of the analog stick.. A great and fun small game. if you like good sound, puzzle platformer, then this is for you.
